People’s behavior is changing through Chaupal, Dhodrepal, Bastar

Dhodhrepal village is 35 km away from Darbha block of Bastar district, mostly tribal (Madia, Gond Muria) community lives. Work is being done in this village for malaria eradication under Godrej EMBED Project from September 2021. In this sequence, when the village chaupal was being done by the worker of Embed project through home contact on 09/09/2021, there is a big pit near the road seen in Patelpara of Dhodrepal village, which filled with water for several days. Due to this, mosquito larvae had grown in abundance in it, this pit was near the houses of the residents there.

BCCF of EMBED Project – Ram Kumar Nag collected the people of Patelpara and showed that the larvae of these mosquitoes will take the form of mosquitoes in a few days, and you can spread infectious diseases like malaria by biting people and spreading your disease to the whole village. It can take serious form by getting caught. Along with making aware about other mosquito-borne diseases, how they can be prevented.

After this, the people gathered there listened well to whatever information was given by BCCF and completely agreed with the things. BCCF suggested to the people to put kerosene oil or burnt oil in the pit once every week so that larvae can be destroyed and will not reappear in it. Again, it will be good if this pit If it is covered with soil, then the larva will never be able to form in it again. Hearing these things, a family gave their full support and agreed to do this every week by pouring kerosene oil in that pit immediately.

When BCCF- Ram Kumar again came out of the same village to go to his house in the evening, he saw that the pit was filled with soil by the people. BCCF came to know that all the people around have put soil in this pit and also ensured that now we can find any kind of pit in the village or in the houses they will fill it completely by pouring soil like this and will make sure to pour burnt oil or kerosene once a week in such pits which cannot be bridged, so that we and our family will get rid of mosquito-borne diseases.
